Makeup for your senior pictures is important. Some seniors will go and get their makeup done with a professional makeup artist and that is great. They know how to get the best results for in front of the camera.

And some seniors choose to do their own makeup and that is perfectly fine too. I am here with some helpful tips to help so your makeup will be photo-ready.

Keep your skin looking natural

If you have amazing skin (Lucky!!) you might just need a little blush and powder and you will be good to go. But if you are a regular foundation user you will want to find a foundation that is as natural looking as possible. Steer clear of the cakey foundation. You want to find a foundation that is not super dewey/reflective , you want to find something somewhere in the middle that gives that natural skin texture. And always make sure to prep your skin.

A couple of foundation options:

Practice makes perfect

Practice your makeup until you are happy with it. If you have to buy new makeup for the pictures make sure to do it in enough time to make sure you are comfortable with it and the way it looks on.

Natural lighting

I use mostly natural lighting when I am photographing. So I recommend applying your makeup in front of a window or a well-lit mirror. Also make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to do your makeup so you can enjoy the process and not rush.

Accentuate your features

Make sure to do your makeup to show off your best features, like using a highlighter for your eyes or bronzer to show of your cheek bones.

Cheeks and Lips

Many kinds of light tend to wash out color from your facial features. When it comes to blush, use a heavier hand than you normally would and apply a tad more color than usual. For your lips, you don’t have to go with a heavy, bright color. Just make sure they’re defined and the color is applied evenly.

Bring a basic kit for retouches

You want to bring powder, blotting sheets,& lipstick/gloss/chapstick in your kit for retouches.

Just a reminder is to keep it timeless and natural. Hope this helps give you a game plan for your makeup.
